What I’ve Learned from Norman

On this date in 1898, Norman Vincent Peale was born. Today, he would have been 115 years old. He was the best-selling author of The Power of Positive Thinking, and a professional speaker who touched the lives of thousands. He was one of New York City’s most famous preachers, growing Marble Church’s membership from 600 to over 5,000.

I love the quote “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade”. He coined that phrase, along with a few others, that are some of my personal favorites.

“Change your thoughts and you change the world.” Having a positive mindset is a good thing. It can change the outcome of business calls, personal conversations, and everything in between.

“It’s always too soon to quit.” In Running the Gauntlet I wrote about being relentless. Continue to try and when you think you’ve tried everything, try some more. Friendsource if you need to! The point is, be relentless and don’t quit. Keep going, even if it’s hard. You’ll be amazed at where you can get.

“When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” Like I said, this is one of my favorites. It’s about making the best out of a bad situation and keeping your optimism. We all know that life has its ups and downs. What defines a person is how they handle those situations. If life hands you lemons, make lemonade, kick back, and enjoy.
