Adapt

As a Change Agent, you know you must adapt during times of upheaval.  Some situations will dictate the way you handle change, but the attitude remains: adapt or die.

There is no way to run through a gauntlet gracefully, nor can you get through forcefully or at breathtaking speed.  Face it — things will be thrown at you, people will revolt against the change, and you can be sure it’s going to get messy.
I don’t care if you sell submarine sandwiches or actual submarines; the business environment is changing, and you must adapt to survive.

 

Two tools you need to adapt:

  • Understanding: know how you fit into the realities of your industry and your customers, now and in the future
  • Contrarian voice:  always entertain an argument that may go against the grain in your business.  It will help you ask yourself what you don’t know

Then take action:  transform your business model and build a culture of innovation and winning.

Balance the big picture need of tomorrow AND today.
