Shop Locally on Small Business Saturday
Thanksgiving is such an important holiday, celebrating what your thankful for with family and friends, good food and maybe some football. For businesses, Thanksgiving means Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday.
In my home state of South Dakota, small businesses are the backbone of the economy. Downtown Sioux Falls celebrates small businesses with events and specials almost weekly. So naturally I’m thankful for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and Small Business Saturday, which celebrates both. I frequent a lot of businesses; these are my favorite small businesses:
- Zandbroz (Sioux Falls, SD): A great downtown shop where you can find some of the coolest gifts, toys, and more.
- Prairie Star Gallery (Sioux Falls, SD) and Prairie Edge (Rapid City, SD): If you know me, you know my respect and admiration for Native Americans. These are two of my favorite places to buy beautiful, timeless art showcasing the culture and history of Native Americans, not to mention the handcrafted arrows I send to partners and baby moccasins I give as baby gifts.
- Nyberg’s Ace Hardware (Sioux Falls, SD): If I need anything for my place in Sioux Falls, I visit Nyberg’s Ace. The employees are fantastic and know me by name.
- Reistroffer Design (Sioux Falls, SD): This photographer is among the best I’ve worked with. His artistic eye has covered many events, including the red carpet premiere of C-Suite with Jeffrey Hayzlett.
- Gary’s Gun Shop (Sioux Falls, SD): What cowboy would be complete without his firearm? Whenever I’m in Sioux Falls, I make a stop by Gary’s to see what he’s got in shop. I also visit before hunting to make sure my guns are good to go.
As you search for the perfect Christmas presents for your loved ones, remember to check out your local small businesses!
